To be fair, the Browns are still limping along without their top two running backs, making it difficult to find balance offensively.

It also doesn’t help that the team lacks any explosive playmakers, so Colt McCoy has very little to work with.

The Browns only turned the ball over once compared to two for the Rams, but it didn’t seem to matter in the end.

The one bit of good news is that Cleveland continues to boast a strong defense despite little support from the other side of the ball. 

Believe it or not, the offensively challenged Browns are now 3-3 on the season, although that’s only good enough for last place in the AFC North.

Montario Hardesty got the start at running back in place of the injured Peyton Hillis, and after a slow start, finished with almost 100 yards on 33 carries.

If nothing else, it was good to get Hardesty a lot of work against one of the toughest run defense in the entire league.

Quarterback Colt McCoy threw for just 178 yards and an interception, but Cleveland’s defense held Seattle under 200 yards of total offense.

McCoy spent a few days working out with legendary quarterback Brett Favre, who also spent time in Mike Holmgren’s system.

McCoy said that he wasn’t sure about it, but decided to pick up the phone and give Favre a call.

He said they worked on all kinds of things and also asked Favre a lot of questions.

The young quarterback played very well in the team’s first preseason game, even besting Aaron Rodgers.

Dawson is a very good kicker and the Browns don’t have many quality free agents, but slapping the franchise tag on a kicker is very telling for the organization.

He has been the only kicker for the club since the city was awarded another franchise by the NFL.

He is the ninth most accurate kicker in NFL history despite playing just off the windy waters of Lake Erie.

Dawson has played in 183 games for the Browns, but the 35-year old has been a part of just two winning seasons.

A number of the veterans were considered favorites of former head coach Eric Mangini, so it looks like the Browns want to clear out the old regime.

Cleveland would like to go with younger players under the new regime, and Pat Shurmur wants to get rid of the dead wood.

Rogers is by far the biggest name that was cut, and he can be one of the most dominant defensive lineman when healthy.

He was unable to stay healthy the past two seasons, which saw his play slip dramatically. Nonetheless, a bunch of teams will be lining up to take a chance on him.

Jauron spent the past two seasons working with the secondary of the Philadelphia Eagles and was also considered a candidate for their defensive coordinator position.

The move means a drastic change in the defensive schemes for Cleveland, which has been playing a 3-4.

Jauron’s background is in the 4-3 base defense, and that’s the scheme he plans to implement in Cleveland.

He has been a defensive coordinator for a couple of NFL teams and was also the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

The players recently made it clear that they wanted head coach Eric Mangini to return next season, but they certainly didn’t show it against Pittsburgh.

It was a rough day for rookie quarterback Colt McCoy, who tossed three interceptions against Pittsburgh’s tough defense.

He was also the team’s leading rusher on the day with just 19 yards, which is never a good sign.

The Cleveland defense had it share of issues as well, giving up 418 yards of total offense to Pittsburgh.

The Browns actually hung tough in the early going, even intercepting a pass from Big Ben and striking first with a field goal.

Eventually, Big Ben started to find a rhythm against a Cleveland secondary that has been victimized many times this year.

Cleveland’s offense could not keep pace with rookie quarterback Colt McCoy under center, but he was surprisingly solid in the loss.

McCoy threw for almost 300 yards and a touchdown in his first career start, which was on the road against one of the top defenses in the NFL.

Cleveland was putting up a strong fight and seemed to be outplaying Atlanta, but then quarterback Seneca Wallace went down with an ankle injury.

Veteran Jake Delhomme, still nursing an ankle injury of his own, came in and did only what he could do: throw an interception.

The interception was returned for a touchdown, and it essentially ended any hope of a Cleveland win.

The Browns really aren’t that terrible, but Delhomme’s turnovers are just too much for them to overcome.

After three straight close losses, the Browns finally ended up on the winning side of a tight ballgame.

Running back Peyton Hillis turned in another fine game, rushing for over 100 yards and finding the end zone.

The defense was shaky at times, but made just enough plays to keep the Bengals out of the end zone.

They gave up almost 400 yards of passing offense, but two fumbles recoveries proved to be critical in the win.
